SmartDrive COO to Address the Role of Big Data in Autonomous Vehicle Systems of the Future at SAE COMVEC 2017
Jason Palmer Will Explain How to Use Data to Improve Commercial Vehicle Safety and Advanced Driver Assistance Programs
SAN DIEGO—September 18, 2017—SmartDrive Systems, a leader in driving performance solutions that reduce collisions and improve fuel efficiency, today announced that SmartDrive Chief Operating Officer Jason Palmer will participate in an expert panel discussion on “ADAS & Autonomous Commercial Vehicle Integration with Infrastructure or Big Data” at SAE International’s Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress 2017 (SAE COMVEC 17), which takes place today through Sept. 20, 2017 in Rosemont, IL. Palmer and other industry authorities will discuss how the efficiency and effectiveness of commercial vehicle driver safety systems are improved as a result of integrating data from third-party systems.
SAE International is a global association for engineers and related technical experts in the aerospace, automotive and commercial vehicle industries. COMVEC 17 is the central forum for the community that develops vehicles and equipment spanning the on-highway, off-highway, agricultural, construction, industrial, military and mining sectors. Congress attendees will learn about the latest critical information related to improving safety, reducing CO2 emissions and enhancing vehicle efficiencies for fuel savings.
Palmer will join Derek Rotz of Daimler Trucks North America, Brian Routhier of the U.S. Department of Transportation and Joshua Philip Switkes of Peloton Technology for a deep dive discussion that will shed light on the current state of, and future vision for, big data in autonomous vehicle systems and on- board safety technology. For example, panelists will discuss vehicle-to-infrastructure data and the emerging data and analytics needs for the transition to autonomous driving, particularly the need for highly accurate real-time data.
“With the largest database of analyzed driving events—over 200 million and counting—and 10 billion driving miles of vehicle and sensor data, SmartDrive is uniquely able to deliver the data and insights needed to inform the development of emerging autonomous and advanced driving systems,” stated Palmer. “Our goal is to improve the efficacy and safety of these systems and help realize their full potential.”
