SmartDrive Chief Operating Officer to Speak at Global Waste Management Symposium
Jason Palmer to Discuss How Waste and Recycling Collection Fleets Can Reduce Accidents with Video-Based Safety and Analytics
SAN DIEGO, Feb. 6, 2018—SmartDrive Systems, a leader in video-based safety and transportation intelligence, today announced that Chief Operating Officer Jason Palmer will present at the Global Waste Management Symposium, which will take place Feb. 11-14, 2018 in Indian Wells, Calif. Palmer will lead a session titled “Reducing the Frequency and Severity of Waste Collection Accidents with Video-Based Safety and Analytics” on Feb. 14.
The waste and recycling industry is one of the most dangerous in the U.S. A collection fleet’s vehicles have unique configuration requirements, frequently operate in congested and hazardous operating environments and face significant risk tied to collisions, personal injury and property damage. Managing these risks is critical to ensuring the safety of employees and the general public, reducing costs and improving operational efficiency.
Palmer will explain how video-based safety programs yield measurable results, enabling waste and recycling collection fleets to make informed decisions to reduce collisions and exonerate drivers when not at fault. He will share a case study describing a 150-vehicle waste and recycling fleet that harnessed the SmartDrive ® program and 360-degree visibility enabled by a multi-camera configuration. As a result, company managers had a complete view of what was happening on the road and in the cab, allowing them to proactively protect and coach drivers.
